Derek Dodson, Director

Derek has been the Director at TSU since August of 2006. Derek graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters Degree in Christian Education in 1998. Before seminary, he received a degree in vocal performance from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Derek and his wife Carol met through BSM (although back then it was called BSU). While at Northwestern Derek & Carol were both active in the ministries on campus as well as summer missions through Louisiana BSU. Derek & Carol have served in student ministry for more than 13 years at churches in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.  Most recently, Derek was on staff at First Baptist Church in Weatherford, TX for five years. The Dodsons have two children. Their daughter, Maurie, is nine and in the 4th grade. Their son, Colby, is seven years old and in the 2nd grade. Derek loves college football, playing disc golf, and paintball.  Occassionally he tries his luck at a round of golf and usually hits one or two decent shots - just enough to keep him coming back.  The Dodson family are members at Valley Grove Baptist Church.  If you want to make fun of Derek, make a comment about the bald spot on top of his head (note the swirl pattern) or look at the pictures in his office from when he was in college in one of the worst fashion eras ever - the 90's.  Yes, we know, the 80's was the worst...that's okay, because that's when Derek went to high school.  Bonus points if you can find a tenth grade yearbook picture of Derek's mullet.
